How to Soothe Joint Pain In Seniors
While arthritis is common among the senior population, this doesn’t mean that they need to suffer from the ongoing pain. Arthritis can’t be cured, but it can be kept under control through a combination of treatments and lifestyle changes.
Kandydina, Inc. is here to share some tips to help reduce your loved one’s arthritis pain. It is important to note that each senior is different, so not every method listed below will work on them. If you need help, you can always get senior care in Charles County.
- Heat
Heat therapy can help loosen up stiff joints and muscles, stimulate blood circulation, and even reduce muscle spasms. You can use heating pads, heat wraps, or pain-relieving creams. Warm baths can also work. - Cold
If heat isn’t helping, try cold therapy. You can do this by applying ice packs or cold wraps and pads to the affected area. Cold therapy is good for numbing deep pain. Make sure to take breaks after 10-15 minutes. - Exercise
Many seniors with arthritis don’t want to move around because of the pain. However, not moving actually makes the pain worse. So try to convince your senior to do some light exercises for at least 30 minutes every day.
Don’t worry, you don’t have to do all of these on your own. You can always ask for help from your local home care services in Fort Washington, Maryland, to assist you with senior care.
